POLICE are warning people in Wath and Rawmarsh to be on their guard following a spate of car thefts and sneak in burglaries in the area.
Replica Yves Saint LaurentBetween Friday 7th and Saturday 8th July, 2006, six domestic burglaries were reported, four of which were 'sneak in' burglaries and committed over the whole district, including Burman Road, Wath, Lister Avenue, Rawmarsh, Reynolds Close, Flanderwell. Stolen items included purses, handbags, mobile phones, driving licences, bank and credit cards. The majority of offences relate to women leaving bags/purses on kitchen worktops with the back door left open.
Nine offences of theft from motor vehicle were reported, two of which were Sat Navs left on display in unattended vehicles (one in the cradle and one in the glove compartment but with the cradle on display).
Two vehicles were stolen that had been left temporarily unattended with the keys in the ignition, because the owners were only anticipating being away from the vehicles for a matter of minutes.
Detective Inspector Eddie Murphy from Rotherham CID said: "These figures demonstrate what we repeatedly try to hammer home to the Manolo Blahnik Shoes public - opportunist thieves do unfortunately exist amongst us as these unfortunate victims of crime are now only too well aware. A few sensible precautions can prevent a lot of inconvenience and distress and make life difficult for thieves. I would urge householders to take all reasonable precautions to safeguard their homes - do not leave doors and windows insecure in unattended rooms and do not leave valuables on display. If working in the garden, again ensure the doors and windows are locked. With regard to theft of cars - leaving keys in the car speaks for itself. It takes only seconds for a thief to steal a car as demonstrated by the two incidents above. Also, do not leave valuables on display to tempt thieves in unattended vehicles, even if the car is left secure. Take valuables out of the car, or if you must leave them in the vehicle, lock them out of sight in the boot."
